Why Should I Hire an Attorney

los-angeles-defense-lawyer12.jpg The simple answer to this question is that if you do not hire a DUI lawyer, there is a 100% chance that you will be convicted of DUI.

You will not be told that you are presumed innocent.  There may be valid defenses and issues that you could bring to the attention of a jury.  The prosecutor will not tell you about your defenses.

In order for a jury to find you guilty, all 12 must agree that you are guilty.  A skilled DUI lawyer can bring up doubt and defenses that you could not do on your own.

Many people plead guilty without consulting a lawyer believing that they will never get another DUI. In California, if you get another DUI within 10 years of your first DUI, you loose your license for one year and face up to one year in jail.  I have seen too many people who plead to DUI when there were defenses in the first case, now facing a one year license loss and jail time.  Ten years is a long time and given the increasing enforcement of DUI laws, there is a real possibility that you could get another DUI within ten years.

It is better to fight and lose, then to lose without having tried to fight.
